My name is Maksim, and I am currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London. I have three years' experience in Maths and Physics tutoring.
The transition from GCSE to A Level Mathematics can be especially daunting and overwhelming for students, with a substantial increase in both workload and complexity. At A Level, students require a greater depth of understanding for each topic, and the pace of lessons means that it can be difficult to find time to properly revise and revisit each topic throughout the year. To address this challenge, I propose a summer course that addresses key topics within Year 1 A Level Maths, to facilitate a smooth transition from GCSE into Year 12. I will cover not only new material, but will also revisit crucial GCSE topics in a new light to provide a stress-free introduction to A Level, equipping students with the foundational skills and confidence they need to succeed.
I propose the following program, spanning 6 weeks, with each 1.5 hour session per week covering a different fundamental A Level Pure Mathematics topic:
Week 1
Proof, Algebra and Functions
Week 2
Exponentials and Logarithms
Week 3
Coordinate Geometry
Week 4
Trigonometry
Week 5
Sequences and Series
Week 6
Introduction to Differentiation and Integration
Availability for optional extra consolidation lessons after the conclusion of the course.
NOTE: The exact time and dates of lessons can be amended according to the availability of students
