12 online lessons on Macbeth for GCSE English Literature. Analysing 10 key extracts and practising essay writing. Learning how to use
Suitable for all exam boards.
This is a course for those who realise that understanding a 400+ year-old Shakespeare's masterpiece does not come after 3 or 5 or even 8 lessons. A "complete" understanding of Macbeth doesn't come even after the full 12 lessons, but we will try! :) With this in-depth course, you will learn not only how to analyse Macbeth, but you will also learn how to analyse poetry - because speeches in Macbeth are like poems!
Here is our lesson plan:
Act 1, Scene 2 – We hear about Macbeth’s bravery 1
Act 1, scene 3 – Macbeth’s first thoughts of murder 2
Act 1, Scene 4 - The gratitude of King Duncan contrasts Macbeth’s “black desires” 3
Act 1, Scene 7 – Macbeth having doubts about the murder 4
Act 2, Scene 1 – Macbeth deciding on the murder and going crazy at the same time 5
Act 2, Scene 2 – Just after the murder 6
Act 3, Scene 2 – Macbeth is becoming obsessed with killing Banquo and his son 7
Act 3, Scene 4 – Macbeth goes mad, sees Banquo’s ghost at the banquet 8
Act 5, Scene 3 – Macbeth is tired, but ready to fight till the end 9
Act 5, Scene 5 – Macbeth’s last speech 10
